205th

 " 205th "

Every year on February 2nd, the celebration known as Kannawidan Ylocos commemorates the province of Ilocos Sur's establishment. Its festivities, which extend for a full week, take place from the last few days of January to the first week of February. The province's capital, Vigan, is the site of the important events. It was established to encourage awareness of and protection for regional tradition, culture, and legacy. In addition, it was a chance to highlight regional goods, artwork, and craftsmanship.

This celebration is particularly important to every inhabitant of the province since it celebrates the establishment of Ilocos Sur as a province by virtue of the Royal Decree signed on February 2, 1818. Kannawidan Festival starts with a eucharistic celebration and a solemn procession participated by different municipalities with their own patron saints. Kannawidan highlighted the search for Miss Ilocos Sur including the Kannawidan Trade Fair joined by different towns/municipalities with their own products, these demonstrate how inventive they are in transforming raw materials into useful ones..  Numerous gatherings and activities are attended by locals and visitors. Increased visitor activity will also improve the local economy as an outcome of the event.

Encouraging the Philippine tourist sector is done through the Kannawidan Festival. Tourists will be able to enjoy the country's beauty and culture, as well as explore the various attractions that the Philippines has to offer, at the festival.
